Abstract: Drilling and production engineering technology has played an important role in the leaping development of Petrochina’s overseas oil and gas business. According to the reservoir characteristics and development environment of oversea projects, through theory study, key technology research and field practice, an overseas drilling and production technology system has come into being. Horizontal drilling has been applied in large-scale in Oman, Iraq in Middle east, Venezuela in South America, Kazakhstan, South Sudan and so on. Under-Balance drilling has been applied in H Block in Chad. The largest gas-lift reservoir in Asia has been built in R reservoir in Kazakhstan. Cold heavy oil production with sand(CHOPS) has made major progress in 6 Block in Sudan. Development situation of overseas projects and requirements on drilling and production are analyzed, and the inevitable trend and research targets of drilling and production engineering are pointed out, which is of great significance for overseas project development.
