Abstract: This paper presents idea that packer seal made of NiTi shape memory alloy can replace traditional rubber seal. The structural design of seal with shape memory alloy has been completed. Experiments were conducted on functions of the seal with shape memory alloy, and results of the experiments were analyzed specifically. The experiments prove that seal with NiTi shape memory alloy has high pressure bearing ability, powerful setting force and small releasing force, and has excellent sealing performance. Therefore, it can replace traditional rubber seal.
