Abstract:
The traditional approach to analyze multi-well tracer tests generally involves a history matching procedure that is time consuming and frequently results in a non-unique solution. This paper presents a typecurve matching method.First,we use theoretical frequency response functions to build the curve of transfer function and phase spectrum which is called theoretical curve.Second,we use Fourier analysis to transform the field tracer data from time domain to frequency domain, then plot the field curve of transfer function and phase spectrum which is called practical curve. The transfer function contains information regarding the characteristics of heterogeneous reservoir and the phase spectrum provides information about the presence of immobile oil phase. In a manner analogous to type-curve matching for well testing,we can analyze field tracer data by comparing the theoretical and practical transfer function and phase spectrum, both the heterogeneity index and pore volume can be easily and quickly estimated by this method. If the partitioning tracer and non-partitioning tracer were used simultaneously, then the residual oil saturation can be estimated. We demonstrate this method by analyzing field tracer data from the Xinjiang oil field, the results show very good agreement with other traditional methods.
