Application of high load-bearing power cable fishing pump in Bohai Oilfield

  • Due to investment restrictions in the early stages of oilfield development, some blocks in Bohai Oilfield are developed using platforms without workover rigs. With the platforms without workover rigs, there exist problems such as difficulty in inspecting pumps after lying in the well and high maintenance costs. After conducting research on the pump inspection process of existing non- workover rig platforms, a high load cable retraction device was designed to replace the power source of the workover rig based on the platform design load and space limitations. Combined with the latest rodless fishing technology, a novel pump inspection technology suitable for non-workover rig platforms, namely high load-bearing power cable fishing electric pump technology, was developed. This article introduces the pipe column composition, technical principles, and application scope of the high load-bearing power cable fishing electric pump technology. Key equipment such as cable retraction device, flow head, fishing securing bridle, and underground connection working cylinder have been developed. In October 2023, the first high load-bearing power cable fishing electric pump was successfully implemented in Well F1H in Bohai Oilfield. As of November 2024, this well had been running steadily for over 400 days. Practice has shown that the high load-bearing power cable fishing electric pump can be applied to non-workover rig platforms, and maximize the utilization rate of oil wells on non-workover rig platforms as well as quickly restore oilfield production capacity, which demonstrate the bright future of this novel technology.
