Casing tieback is a special technology usually used in offshore drilling. Ways of tieback are presented, and their specific applications in well E1 on platform SZ36-1-E are described, while the conventional tieback methods all fail due to the complicated conditions. In this case, a new method is proposed, which involves the running of suitable stabilizers in casing for the tieback operation, and this proves to be a successful practice.
