Study on remaining oil distribution after polymer flooding by utilizing improved polymer software

  • Based on fine geological model in BeiYiErPaiXi block and history matching of the whole process of water flooding and polymer flooding, the remaining oil distributions after water flooding and polymer flooding were given using improved POLYMER software. The remaining oil contours for different sedimentary units were also plotted. Residual oil saturation for all grids was calculated on the basis of relations between residual oil saturation and permeability. Then remaining oil reserve and remaining recoverable reserve of Beiyierpaixi block were calculated with different sedimentary unit, different sedimentary microfacies, different permeability, and thickness layers. Results show that moderate or low permeability formations have relatively large recoverable reserve, which should be considered as the potential targets.
