Analysis on work conditions and energy dissipation of beam pumping units

  • The wells produced by using beam pumping units occupy more than 95% of total production wells.The oilfield production generally cares bout how to select beam pumping unit to save power.The author in this paper conducts laboratory or field experiments on the energy dissipation of the beam pumping units under various working conditions based on surveying the types,burden ratio,balance ratio,and power level of electric motor of the beam pumping units of more than 500 wells in Lindong district of Linpan Oilfield and theoretically analyzing the relationship between burden ratio and energy dissipation of the beam pumping units.The research results show that the conveyer belt and the double horse-head pumping unit will save more energy than the ordinary beam pumping unit under the same loading.When the loading on pumping units is less than 20%,the efficiency of them will increase dramatically as the loading increases,while it will increase slowly if the loading on the pumping units is more than 20%.So the loading on the pumping units is determined as 20% for economic operation.Furthermore,the quantitative rule of the maximum pump diameter and the minimum pumping speed under the same pumping stroke needs for further research.The research will be helpful to optimize the operation parameters.
