Application effect analysis of logging while drilling technique in west south china sea

Logging while drilling technique(LWD)was first used for geosteering in an oil field of west South China Sea.Then,substantive LWD information was obtained by its appliance in the development of Beibuwan,Yinggehai,and Zhujiangkou basins.In 2007,with the mature of the technique,it was used first in Beibuwan basin exploration well drilling.Information of LWD and wireline logging was compared to evaluate the application effect of LWD.Pros and cons of LWD were generalized and further the way of how to promote it from simple geosteering to deep application to exploration and appraisal well operation and by trace and analyses was illustrated.Research results show that application effect of LWD is satisfying.
