Discussion of stress sensitivity of low permeability and tight reservoir rocks

  • Professor LI Chuanliang considered that it was experimental error resulted in strong stress sensitivity of low permeability rock in laboratory. However, in my opinion, there is not serious systematic error for porosity and permeability measurement equipment, and there is not unexplained logic error for experimental data. Low permeability rock presents strong stress sensitivity in laboratory, which is closely relative to its deformation characteristics. However, because of the different stress variation range, stress sensitivity of low permeability reservoir during the oil and gas production is not as strong as that of low permeability rock in laboratory. So the effect of stress sensitivity on oil and gas production cloud be considered moderately. The discussion of this paper is practical to the experimental methods and development of low permeability and tight reservoirs.
